Remembering Cancun: A Honeymoon Eight Years in the Making

A year ago this week my husband and I were realizing our honeymoon, eight years in the making. My husband’s cousin was getting married and we were invited to attend his wedding in Cancun. When Francisco and I got married in 2004, we never went on a honeymoon, so this was the perfect opportunity to finally make it happen.

Now I’m the more practical one and the one that worries more about this and that…you know, this trip wasn’t in the plans (or the budget)… but boy I’m glad we did it! Cancun is a beautiful place and the memories we created will be with me forever.

We had the opportunity to visit historical sites, swim in blue waters and just enjoy each other’s company. The hotel we stayed at included drinks, a variety of restaurants to dine at and amazing views! Not to mention his cousin’s wedding was great and we met and went out with other wedding attendees during our week-long stay.

So today, as I lay here in Houston reminiscing an adventure past, I thank God for giving me the opportunity to get away, with the man I love. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make memories that I relive on several occasions. Sometimes life can get busy, stressful, repetitive, so it truly is a blessing to just be able to close my eyes and be back to a place, an event that fill me with such happiness.
